Lab streamlines competencies across all departments in no time

A laboratory on the West Coast was meeting all of its competency assessment deadlines, but this became more challenging as their team expanded. As timelines became harder to keep track of, they sought out MediaLab by Vastian.

This laboratory relied heavily on the trainer and trainee to manage their own training and competency assessments. The trainers struggled to maintain competencies at the required intervals for their staff. There was little standardization between departments, which made it difficult for the quality coordinator to track progress and present accurate reports to senior management.

This laboratory needed a better way to keep track of all assessments, standardize between departments, and access reports as needed. With Compass, they were able to achieve all of that. The lab leveraged customizable, pre-built templates to ensure staff across all departments followed the same general checklists. The trainers were able to auto-assign competencies to their trainees. As competencies were completed, the quality coordinator generated reports by departments and by individuals to present to senior leadership.

Compass simplified this lab’s training and competency entirely. Since implementation, they’ve further streamlined their competency management by allowing their staff to link documents from Document Control, create additional course modules or exams, and build the checklist all in one place. Compass helped them track when a follow-up assessment was needed and alerted the individual and supervisor. The lab has a much better handle on our assessments and they no longer feel stressed when an inspection window starts approaching; they have everything they need in one place at any time.
